ZeptoMail is now Zoho CPaaS, with new communication channels
For years, Zoho ZeptoMail has been the transactional email platform that developers and businesses trusted to get the message through. Password resets, order confirmations, shipping alerts, OTPs, and other messages that keep your product running, every minute of every day.
Today, we’re evolving that platform into something bigger. ZeptoMail is now Zoho CPaaS (Communication Platform as a Service).
Zoho CPaaS is a multi-channel communication platform that covers Email, SMS, WhatsApp, and Voice. Same foundation. Significantly more reach.
What changed, and what didn’t
If you’re an existing ZeptoMail user, your configurations and integrations aren’t broken. Your SMTP configuration, your API keys, your Agents are all intact. The email channel is still here, and it works exactly as it always has.
What’s new is everything alongside it.
We’ve spent the last few years quietly building the compliance, deliverability, and infrastructure layer that makes a CPaaS worth using: sender reputation management, suppression list enforcement, bounce handling, SPF/DKIM/DMARC authentication, and other foundational work that determines whether a message actually lands. We built that rigorously for email, and we’ve applied the same discipline to every new channel we’ve added.
The result is Zoho CPaaS: a communication platform where the infrastructure holds up, across all four channels, out of the box.
One platform, four channels
Each channel has its own purpose-built API, designed for the specifics of that medium rather than forced through a generic interface. What’s shared is everything underneath: the console, the analytics, the compliance controls, and the credit-based pricing model that lets you pay for what you use across all four channels.
SMS
Our SMS channel is built for OTPs, alerts, and other time-sensitive notifications. The SMS channel handles DLT compliance requirements, which vary and is mandatory across different regions. Template management, delivery tracking, and sender ID configuration are built in.
Use our WhatsApp channel to send notifications through the official WhatsApp Business API. Send order updates, appointment reminders, delivery alerts, and verification messages to customers on a channel they’re already using. Template approval workflows, media message support, and delivery status tracking are all part of the channel.
Voice
Automated voice calls work in scenarios where a text notification isn’t enough, like OTPs, critical alerts, verification flows, and callback triggers. The voice channel is built for programmable outbound calls, with call status tracking and customizable audio delivery.
Email includes everything you already know, like high-deliverability transactional email, SMTP relay, dedicated IPs, an Agent model for clean message segmentation and robust authentication support. Now part of a broader platform rather than a standalone product.
Why now?
Communication has gotten more complex. AI-powered products send notifications autonomously. Customer journeys move across channels within a single session. Reaching a user on the right channel at the right moment matters more than it did when email was the only option.
Zoho CPaaS is built for that environment. It’s a platform that developers can integrate cleanly, businesses can trust for compliance, and AI workflows can consume as a communication layer, without having to stitch together multiple vendor relationships or manage separate deliverability setups per channel.
What’s next?
The four-channel foundation is live. We’ll continue to deepen each channel’s capabilities and expand the platform based on how teams are actually using it. Besides deepening each channel, we’re also working on adding more communication channels to Zoho CPaaS.
We're also building toward a future where AI-driven workflows are a natural part of how businesses communicate, not by becoming an orchestration or agent-building layer, but by making CPaaS the communication platform that AI agents reach for.
Getting started
If you’re an existing ZeptoMail user, log into your account. Your setup is unchanged, and the new channels are ready to explore.
If you’re new to the platform, sign up for Zoho CPaaS and start with whichever channel fits your immediate use case.
Documentation for all four channels is available in the Zoho CPaaS developer docs.
For ZeptoMail users: Nothing in your integration and configuration needs to change. The product name in our console and documentation is updating to Zoho CPaaS, and you may see that reflected over the coming weeks. Your credentials, configurations, and billing are all unaffected.
