# Picklists

A picklist is a document assigned to a warehouse picker that lists the items and their quantities to be picked from a specific warehouse or location to fulfil confirmed sales orders.

## Benefits

* It contains only the information essential for a warehouse picker.
* It helps organise stock picking for large volumes of orders.
* Grouping and assigning picklists by items or sales orders to each warehouse picker helps minimise errors during fulfilment.

**Note:** You can create a picklist only for inventory-tracked items.

## Enable Picklists

Picklists is an optional module that you can enable if your business process requires it. However, you must have the **Multi-warehouse** feature enabled in your organization to access picklists.

To enable picklists:

* Go to **Settings** in the top right corner.
*   Navigate to _Organization Settings_.
* Click **General** under _Setup and Configurations_.
* Enable **Picklists** under _Select the modules you would like to enable_.
*   Click **Save**.

![Enable Picklists](/inventory/help/images/picklist/enable-picklists.png)

**Note:** It is not mandatory to generate picklists before packaging. You can skip this step and create packages directly.

## Preferred Bin

Admins can suggest a preferred bin for pickers to pick items from. This is only a preference and not mandatory. Pickers can also pick items from other bins if required. Preferred Bin can be assigned during [Picklist Creation](/us/inventory/help/picklist/#create) or [Picklist Status Update](/us/inventory/help/picklist/#picklist-status).

**Pre-requisite:**

* Only admins can assign a preferred bin.
* The selected location must be bin-enabled.
* The items must be bin-enabled.

## Create Picklist

There are three ways in which you can generate picklists for the sales orders in Zoho Inventory:

## Update Item Status in Picklist

Once the picklist is generated, you or the assignee can update the status of the items.

To update the items in the picklist:

* Navigate to **Inventory** on the left sidebar.
* Go to **Warehouse Operations** on the top module bar.
* Click **Picklists** from the dropdown.
* Select the picklist you wish to update the status of items.
* Click **Update Status** in the picklist’s details page.
* You can view the _Item Details_, _Sales Order#_, _Quantity Ordered_, _Quantity Packed_, _Preferred Bin_, and _Quantity to Pick_ in the picklist table.
* Enter the actual quantity picked in the _Quantity Picked_ field. If all items in the picklist are picked, click **Pick All Items**. The _Quantity Picked_ field will be automatically prefilled with the _Quantity to Pick_.
* If the item is Advanced Inventory tracked, select the corresponding [_Serial Numbers_](https://www.zoho.com/us/inventory/help/advanced-inventory-tracking/serial-number-tracking.html), [_Batches_](https://www.zoho.com/us/inventory/help/advanced-inventory-tracking/batch-tracking.html), for the item you have picked.
* Update the status of the picked item by selecting one of the following statuses:
    * **Yet To Start** – The picking process for the item has not started yet.
    * **In Progress** – The picking process for the item has started.

    * **Completed** – The item has been picked with the required quantity.
*   Once done, click **Update**.

**Pro Tip:** Click Scan Item in the right corner of the picklist table to scan items and add quantities quickly.

## Update Picklist Status

If all the items in the picklist have been picked, then instead of updating each item, you can directly mark the picklist as _Completed_. This marks all the items within the list as _Completed_. If you want to put the picklist on hold for the time being, you can simply change its status to _On Hold_.

To update picklist status:

* Navigate to **Picklist** under _Inventory_ on the left sidebar.
* Select the picklist you wish to update the status.
* Click **Set Status** in the picklist’s details page.
* Choose a status from the dropdown:
    * **Completed** – The picklist item has been picked completely.
    * **On Hold** – The picklist is temporarily paused.

## View Associated Sales Orders and Packages from Picklists

You can view associated sales orders and packages directly from the picklist details page. To do this:

* Navigate to **Picklist** under _Inventory_ on the left sidebar.
* Select the picklist you wish to view the associated sales orders and packages.
* In the picklist’s details page, you can switch and view the _Associated Sales Orders_ and _Packages_ created for the picklist.
* You can click the sales order or package number to redirect to its details page.
