Report Types

Report types help you identify the purpose of each report. They allow you to easily classify reports, trigger custom approvals, and set up workflows based on the report type.

You can associate your reports with various categories such as air travel expenses, automobile expenses, lodging, etc. You can group all these categories under a common report type. You can also link report types to the policies you’ve created.

Add New Report Type

Here’s how you can add a report type:

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.

    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Reports.
  • Go to the Report Types tab.
  • Click + New Report Type in the top right corner.
  • Enter the Name and Description for the report type.
  • Select the Expense Types that are covered by your report type.
  • Next, select the Policies.
  • Click Save.

Edit Report Type

Here’s how you can edit a report type:

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.

    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Reports.
  • Go to the Report Types tab.
  • Hover over the report type you want to edit and click the More icon.
  • Click Edit.
  • Make the necessary changes and click Save.

Mark a Report Type as Inactive

If you mark a report type as inactive, it will be disabled temporarily and your employees will not be able to associate it with a report. Here’s how you can mark a report type as inactive:

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.

    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Reports.
  • Go to the Report Types tab.
  • Hover over the report type you want to mark as inactive and click the More icon.
  • Click Mark as Inactive.

Once this is done, you will not be able to associate it with reports.

Mark an Inactive Report Type as Active

Here’s how you can mark an inactive report type as active;

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.
    (OR)
    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Reports.
  • Go to the Report Types tab.
  • Hover over the report type you want to mark as active and click the More icon.
  • Click Mark as Active.

Delete Report Type

Warning: You will not be able to retrieve the report types you’ve deleted.

Here’s how you can delete a report type:

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.
    (OR)
    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Reports.
  • Go to the Report Types tab.
  • Hover over the report type you want to delete and click the More icon.
  • Click Delete.
  • Confirm your action by clicking Delete again in the pop-up.
