# How do I delete invoice payments that have already been recorded?

Payments associated to an invoice can be deleted even after they’re recorded in Zoho Invoice. To do this:

*   Go to _Invoices_, and select the invoice for which payment needs to be deleted.
*   In the _Invoice Overview_ page, click the **Payments Received** sub-tab to view the recorded payment for that invoice.
*   Click the **Trash** icon to delete the payment.
*   In the pop-up that appears, choose if you want to dissociate the payment from the invoice and add it as credit for the customer, or if you want to delete the payment entirely.
*   If you select **Delete Payment**, click **Delete** in the pop-up that appears next.

If all the payments related to an invoice are deleted, the invoice status will be updated automatically.
