# How do I identify an advance invoice?

Currently, you can identify the type of invoice only in API using the Retrieve an Invoice API. In the API response, check the is\_advance\_invoice field:

*   If is\_advance\_invoice is true, the invoice is an advance invoice.
*   If is\_advance\_invoice is false, it is a normally renewed invoice.
