# Record of Employment (ROE)

A **Record of Employment (ROE)** provides details about an employee’s work history. It is an essential document used by employees to apply for **Employment Insurance (EI)** benefits.

The information in the ROE helps **Service Canada** determine:

*   Whether an employee qualifies for EI benefits
*   The benefit amount
*   The duration of the benefit period
*   Whether EI funds are being used correctly

As an employer, you are required to issue an ROE whenever an employee experiences an **interruption of earnings**.

Zoho Payroll helps you generate ROEs for employees quickly and accurately whenever required.

## Generate an ROE

To generate an ROE for an employee:

1.  Go to the **Employees** module.
2.  Select the employee.
3.  Navigate to the **ROE** tab.
4.  Click **Generate**.
5.  In the popup that appears, click **Add Signatory Details** if you haven’t already added them.
6.  Select the **Reason** for the interruption of earnings.
7.  Enter the **First Day Worked**, **Last Day for Which Paid**, and **Final Pay Period Ending Date**.
8.  Click **Generate ROE**.

The ROE will be generated for the employee.

## View or Download ROE

Once the ROE is generated, you can view its details anytime under the **ROE** tab of the employee’s profile. If required, you can also **download** a copy of the ROE for your records.
