Integrate Zoho Checkout with Braintree

Braintree is an online payment service by PayPal known to offer a seamless and secure checkout experience. By integrating Zoho Checkout with Braintree, businesses can collect one-time card payments safely from multiple countries and currencies.

Scenario: David runs a subscription box company in the US and wants a reliable way to collect one-time card payments from customers. He integrates Braintree with Zoho Checkout, creates a Payment Page for his product, and shares it with potential buyers. When a customer enters their card details and clicks Pay Now, Braintree processes the transaction securely and settles the funds into David’s bank account.

Notes:

  • This integration is available only for users in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Global editions of Zoho Checkout.
  • Transaction charges are applicable as per Braintree’s pricing policy. Zoho Checkout does not charge any additional fees.

Set Up Braintree

To get started, connect your Braintree account with Zoho Checkout. If you don’t have an account, you can create one and proceed with the integration.

To set up:

  1. Go to Settings and select Payment Gateways.
  2. Click Configure next to Braintree.
  3. Enter the required details:

Merchant IDA unique ID that identifies your Braintree account. You can find this ID in your Braintree > Settings > Business.
Public KeyA key that identifies the users in your Braintree account. You can find this key in your Braintree > Settings > API > API Keys.
Private KeyA secret key used with the public key to make secure API requests. You can find this key in your Braintree > Settings > API > API Keys.
Merchant Account IDAn ID assigned to a specific merchant account in Braintree, in case you have multiple accounts. You can find this ID in your Braintree > Settings > Business.
CurrencySelect the currency associated with your merchant account ID.
Client-Side Encryption KeyThis key encrypts payment details before sending them to Braintree. You can find this key in your Braintree > Settings > API > Client-Side Encryption Keys.
  1. Click Confirm.

Your Braintree account is now configured in Zoho Checkout.

Associate Braintree with Your Payment Page

Your customers can pay you through Braintree if you’ve made it your organization’s default gateway or by associating it under Advanced Setup.

You can associate Braintree to your Payment Page in two ways:

During Payment Page Creation

  1. Go to the Payment Pages module and create a new Payment Page.
  2. Go to Advanced Setup and navigate to Associate Payment Gateways.
  3. Check Braintree and click Save & Publish.

You will be able to collect customer payments through Braintree.

Edit an Existing Payment Page

  1. Go to the Payment Pages module.
  2. Select the Payment Page you want to update and click the Edit icon in the top right corner.
  3. Go to Advanced Setup and navigate to Associate Payment Gateways.
  4. Check Braintree and click Save & Publish.

Braintree will be associated as a Payment Gateway for this Payment Page.

Note: If you have associated multiple gateways to your Payment Page, your organization’s default gateway will be used to collect customer payments.

Receive Payments from Customers

To make a payment via Braintree, customers have to:

  1. Enter the required details on the Payment Page.
  2. Click the payment button (for example, Pay Now or Proceed to Pay).
  3. Choose a preferred payment mode and make the payment.

Once the payment is successful, you will receive an email notification regarding the payment made by your customer. The payment details can be viewed in the Payments module. The payment will be settled in your bank account during the next payout.

Manage Braintree Integration

The various actions you can perform to manage this integration are:

Mark as Default

To mark Braintree as the default payment gateway for your organization:

  1. Click the Settings icon and select Payment Gateways.
  2. Hover over Braintree and select Mark as Default.

For all Payment Pages you create in Zoho Checkout, you will receive customer payments through Braintree.

Edit the Integration

If you would like to change the bank account, enable or disable payment methods, or update your credentials, you can edit the settings.

To edit:

  1. Click the Settings icon and select Payment Gateways.
  2. Hover over Braintree and select Edit.
  3. Make the necessary changes and select Confirm.

The integration settings will be updated.

Remove

When you no longer want to use Braintree to receive payments, you can remove the integration. Here’s how:

  1. Click the Settings icon and select Payment Gateways.
  2. Select Remove below Braintree.
  3. In the pop-up, click Yes to confirm.

The integration will be removed.
