# Can I create a new expense account in Zoho Books?

Yes, you can. To create a new expense account:

*   Go to the **Accountant** module and select **Chart of Accounts**.
*   Click **\+ New Account**.
*   In the pop-up that appears, select the **Account Type** as **Expense** and enter an **Account Name**.
*   Provide a **Description** and an **Account Code**, if necessary.
*   Click **Save**.

You can also create a new expense account by clicking **\+ New Account** from the **Expense Account** drop-down while creating a new expense.
