# There was an error while updating the shipment status to the sales channel. What can be done?

A common reason for shipment update failure is due to shipment being created without entering the **Tracking Number**.

To update the status of a shipment in case of such failures:

*   Delete the shipment.
*   Create a new shipment.
*   Enter the shipment tracking number in the new shipment.
*   Update the status of the shipment in the sales channel manually.
